NASA to perform second Green Run static-fire test
Posted: Fri, Feb 5, 2021, 6:21 PM ET (2321 GMT)
NASA will perform a second static-fire test of the Space Launch System core stage. NASA said Jan. 29 that it would conduct a second test of the stage no earlier than late February. The first test, the final step in the overall Green Run test campaign, took place Jan. 16 but ended after just 67 seconds, a small fraction of the planned 485-second duration. The second test will last at least four minutes to collect the data the agency did not obtain in the first test. NASA didn't disclose what that second test would do to the overall schedule for the Artemis 1 mission, which had limited margin left for its planned November launch even before the first static-fire test.
