Atlas 5 launch of USSF-12, July 2022 (ULA) An Atlas 5 launched two military satellites Friday night. The Atlas 5 lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 7:15 pm EDT (2315 GMT) on the USSF-12 mission and released two satellites into geostationary orbit about six hours later. One, the Wide Field of View (WFOV) missile-warning spacecraft, was built by Millennium Space Systems with an infrared sensor payload developed by L3Harris Technologies. It will be used to test different ways to collect and report missile launch data. A ring-shaped payload adapter carried six classified payloads for the Defense Department's Space Test Program.
