SpaceX’s Falcon 9 delivers 59 commercial satellites into orbit

The launch took place at Cape Canaveral on 14:35 local time

NEW YORK, May 25. /TASS/. SpaceX successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket with a load fo 59 commercial satellites into the orbit, according to a livestream on the company’s website.

The launch took place at Cape Canaveral on 14:35 local time (21:35 Moscow time). In about 90 minutes, the payload, including micro-satellites and other vehicles, separated from the rocket on planned orbits.

In nine minutes after the launch, the first stage of the rocket, which already participated in seven launches, successfully landed at the landing platform in automatic mode.

One Falcon 9 launch costs about $62 million on average, depending on payload mass and volume. A launch of Russian Proton-M costs about the same ($65 million), but Russian rocket is completely one-time use. SpaceX plans to significantly reduce its launch costs by using retrievable first stage and nose cone.
