Azercosmos and Intelsat’s Collaboration Opens the Way to Unreachable Places in the African Region

Azercosmos and the global satellite operator Intelsat have signed a commercial agreement on the joint implementation of long-term projects in the West African region. According to the agreement, Intelsat will provide Cellular Backhaul (CBH) services to its customers in the West African region, which has 17 countries and a population of more than 430 million, by using the resources of the Azerspace-2 satellite.

Using the capabilities of the Azerspace-2 satellite, Intelsat will further expand its service geography in the African region. The coverage of Azerspace-2 satellite is very favorable for mobile network and telecommunication services even in inaccessible areas of Africa.

“Our cooperation with Intelsat, our global partner in satellite services, will open up wide opportunities for our commercial projects in Africa on cellular telecommunications and data services” said Fuad Aslanov, the deputy chairman of Azercosmos.

"Azercosmos continues to be an important and preferred partner of Intelsat providing high-quality satellite services in the African region," said Adam Troy, Vice President of Business Development and Network Partnerships at Intelsat. "We have been cooperating with Azercosmos for many years, since the Azerspace-2 satellite was launched. We rely on the services of Azercosmos to cover the needs of our customers by expanding our global satellite network.
