Weather delays Progress launch
Posted: Thu, Sep 9, 2010, 5:46 AM ET (0946 GMT)
Progress M-06M launch (RSC Energia) Russian officials postponed Wednesday's scheduled launch of a Progress cargo spacecraft because of high winds. Roskosmos rescheduled the Soyuz launch of the Progress M-07M spacecraft to Friday after winds were deemed to high to permit a safe launch. Winds at the Baikonur Cosmodrome were reported at up to 18 meters/second (40 mph). Weather delays at Baikonur are rare despite the often extreme conditions at the spaceport; according to Russian officials, this was the first time such a launch had been postponed in the history of the ISS program.
