Russia launches military satellite

A converted ballistic missile launched a Russian military satellite on Thursday. The Strela rocket, based on the SS-19 ICBM, launched from a silo at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 12:53 pm EDT (1653 GMT) Thursday, carrying a Kondor satellite. The small satellite is believed to be carrying a radar imaging payload, but the Russian government has revealed few details about the launch or the satellite.
