S/2004 N 1 moon illustration (STScI) A planetary astronomer has found a previously-unknown moon orbiting Neptune in archival images of the distant planet taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. Mark Showalter spotted the moon, designated S/2004 N1, in 150 Hubble images of Neptune taken between 2004 and 2009. The moon, the 14th to be discovered orbiting Neptune, is no more than 20 kilometers across and orbits about 105,000 kilometers from the planet.
