Dragon cargo spacecraft launched to ISS
Posted: Sat, Jun 10, 2023, 10:44 AM ET (1444 GMT)
A SpaceX cargo Dragon spacecraft arrived at the International Space Station this morning after a launch from Florida yesterday. A Falcon 9 lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center at 11:47 am EDT (1557 GMT) Monday and placed the Dragon into orbit. That spacecraft, flying the CRS-28 mission for NASA, docked with the station shortly before 6 am EDT (1000 GMT) Tuesday. The spacecraft is carrying about 3,300 kilograms of equipment and supplies, including two solar arrays that will be installed on spacewalks starting Friday. There is relatively limited space on this Dragon for science experiments in order to make room for supplies, which agency officials said is linked to delays in the launch of the next Cygnus cargo spacecraft. That Cygnus, once planned to launch in the spring, has been delayed to later in the summer as Northrop Grumman ensures the solar array deployment problem encountered by the previous Cygnus does not happen again.
