Lijian-1 launch, June 2023 (Xinhua) A Chinese company placed 26 satellites into orbit on a launch Wednesday. A Lijian-1 rocket lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 12:10 am EDT (0410 GMT), placing into orbit the Shiyan-24A and Shiyan-24B experimental satellites and 24 smaller payloads. The launch set a Chinese record for most satellites on a single launch, eclipsing a Long March 8 launch in 2022 that carried 22 satellites. The solid-fuel Lijian-1 rocket, making its second launch, is operated by CAS Space, a commercial spinoff from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
