Two astronauts successfully deployed a solar array on an International Space Station spacewalk Thursday. NASA astronaut Anil Menon and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk spent 7 hours and 11 minutes outside the station, installing the next-to-last IROSA solar array. The array successfully rolled out, joining six others installed over the last few years. Menon and Kutryk finished their work ahead of schedule and used the extra time to perform get-ahead tasks for another spacewalk next week where the two astronauts will install the final IROSA array. Those arrays will augment the station's power systems though its anticipated retirement in 2030.
